Teton Lakes

Teton Lakes Golf Course is located in Rexburg, Idaho. This course has 27 holes split into 3 “forks” of 9 holes. The North Fork 9 is a series of holes that resides in a heavily wooded area, with trees looking to challenge your long game. The South Fork 9 is set near the Snake River with all but one of the holes displaying a water feature. In 2009, an additional 9 holes were designed and implemented into the course which are known as the Mid-Fork. The Mid-Fork is a modern links influenced set with healthy doses of sand features throughout. This course is a great option for eastern Idahoans and travelers alike, due to its wide variety of technical and feature-ridden holes.

Island Park Village

In Island Park, ID, there is a living community called Island Park Village. Residents in this community can enjoy a variety of amenities including access to the golf course. Unlike some of the other neighboring private communities,  Island Park Village doesn’t require residence for you to enjoy a quick and scenic round of 9-hole golf. Non-residents can reserve a tee-time at a rate that isn’t going to break the bank, and the course doesn’t see nearly as much traffic as some of the larger communities near Yellowstone Park or Jackson Hole. The course is expertly maintained and is set in a mountain retreat area with photo opportunities around every corner. If you’re making your way into Yellowstone or just spending a day in Island Park, The Village is definitely worth looking into.

Teton Reserve

Victor, Idaho is home to the Teton Reserve Golf Course. Located 25 miles west of Jackson, this course resides on the less visited side of the Grand Teton range. If you’re not interested in paying the premium fees of courses located on the east side of the Tetons, this course may be up your alley. Great views of the range with very well-maintained holes are offered at a fraction of the price as some of the neighboring courses in Jackson. The course was designed by 3-time U.S. Open Champion, Hale Irwin, and was designed to provide challenges to seasoned golfers, yet offer forgiveness to those who are newer to the sport. Because of its location in the valley, the course’s relative flatness offers stark contrast to the rugged mountains towering in the distance. Overall, Teton Reserve is provides a scenic, friendly course that still gives you the mountain resort experience, but at a lower price.

Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis

If a round of golf with outstanding views of the Tetons are your prerogative, and you have the budget to make it happen, Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club is the place for you. This semi-private club offers public tee times from early May to mid-October.  Stunning views of the range are abundant from nearly every vantage point, and often overshadow the actual course design itself. With this course, the scenery is what makes the golf experience positive. The course is standard, well-maintained and relatively easy to play, with no outstanding features that are worth writing home about. Seasoned players may find that the course doesn’t seem to challenge as much as they’d prefer, but with picture-perfect views on nearly every hole, most complaints regarding course design are quickly disregarded.

White Clouds

In the heart of Sun Valley is White Clouds Golf Course. White Clouds, along with the Trail Creek Championship Course is owned by Sun Valley Resort and are within close proximity to each other. White Clouds is a 9-hole links style course with 360º views of the Wood River Valley, including a view of Ernest Hemingway’s home in Sun Valley. The course is set against the backdrop of the White Cloud Mountains, and also features several water hazards and bunkers with some challenging sidehill lies and blind risk/reward shots. The key to this course is to play a tee that matches your ability, as it is surprisingly easy to overpower some of the more technical holes on the course.

Trail Creek

The Trail Creek Championship Course is one of the highest rated 18-hole courses in the state of Idaho. One of the reasons is because the scenery tends to get more interesting after every hole you play. Scenic views are dynamically changing with the elevation as old growth trees line the fairway, or water features create reflections of the majestic mountains surrounding them. Many of the holes offer challenging approaches and pinned fairways, requiring a level of accuracy and precision in your shots. If you’re staying for a few days, consider back to back tee times at White Clouds or Elkhorn courses for a full spectrum of challenging holes.
